In 1971, following a provocation by the Klu Klux Klan, in North Carolina (United States), Ben Chavis and eight black students who had fought for equality in education between whites and blacks were accused of arson and intentional homicide of a member of the Ku-Klux-Klan and sentenced on the basis of false testimony to a collective sentence of 282 years in prison. They were mainly criticized for campaigning for the civil rights of people of color, for equal integration into society, for access to education.

The document was filmed on November 10, 1976, in a prison in North Carolina, Mac Cain, where common law prisoners with psychological problems are grouped together. It features an exclusive interview with Black pastor Ben Chavis, 28, father of 3, non-violent, sentenced to 34 years in prison.
This interview is preceded by a presentation by Angela Davis of the situation of Black prisoners in the USA and the fight against discrimination.
Headlines and news footage show the movement of ultras holding up "Separation or Death" signs and a demonstration involving Ben Chavis and Angela Davis for black integration and equal rights.
Their case is known as the Wilmington 10s.

He will be released one year after the making of the documentary thanks to international mobilization and the constitution of support committees.
