In the boiling and violent City of Angels, six characters still want to believe in a better life... Written by Lawrence Kasdan ("La fièvre au corps"), a humanist choral film, served by a fine cast: Danny Glover, Kevin Kline and Steve Martin.

Los Angeles, early 1990s. On his way home after dark, lawyer Mack Davis breaks down in a bad neighborhood. Threatened by strangers, he owes his salvation to the intervention of Simon, an African-American mechanic. Between these two men, who are separated by everything, starting with their social background, a deep friendship develops. Mack decides to help Simon's sister, who lives in an unsanitary ghetto...

Megalopolis under tension
How to find happiness in a sprawling city threatened by the elements (fires, earthquakes...) and ravaged by racism and crime? Following the trajectory of six characters - three men and three women - whose destinies intersect, Grand Canyon draws the portrait of a megalopolis under tension, where each one tries as best he can to give meaning to his life by holding on to his dreams. Presented at numerous international festivals and awarded the Golden Bear at the 1992 Berlinale, Lawrence Kasdan's sixth film (Body Fever) was not distributed in France and was unfairly ignored by the American public when it was released. Solidly performed by a host of good actors (Danny Glover, Kevin Kline...), a humanist choral film to rediscover.
