She has lived through prison and torture, mourned the loss of a murdered father and a country torn apart, and experienced the cruelest isolation and solitude of all through exile. In this intimate documentary essay, director Claudine Ndimbira asked the young woman to have her story told by a chorus of readers - men and women who know neither Akili nor her past, but who will develop a deep bond of empathy with her as they read.
