56 HOP ROD

56 HOP ROD is a local based music band in the Solomon Islands which was formed back in 2008. The name 56 HOP ROD was dubbed as the name during our quest for a name. It was basically the name of a street in which Bob Marley and the wailers built "Tuff Gong" record label in 1970. Actually, it was 56 HOPE ROAD, but with linguistic style difference influenced by Solomon Islands pidjin linguafranca, finally it ended as what we are now "56 HOP ROD".
The group was created with the inclusion of four, Maclean ( Ruff Neck), Johnny (Buad), William (Kharzin), and Clerie (Twalf), who as time flys, become an image behind the scenes of 56 HOP ROD. Coming out from different social and ethnic backgrounds, living in the same neighbourhood, these young raw talents became unified by a common ground, music, reggae especially, inspired basically by the likes of Bob Marley (as evident in the connection of how the group simply passed on the street name 56 HOPE ROAD into their own 56 HOP ROD). Other pioneers of reggae music, and since the rise of ragamuffin style, were heavily an influence as well. Not to forget other mainstream genres with the likes of Hip-hop, Electronic music, and RnB.
Dreams do come true, if one would believe in. Intention, at the beginning was to represent our likes in the big scene of music in Solomon Islands. This led to the release of the group's first single on local FM stations "my little girl" in 2008. Since then, the group just don't have the chance to be consistent, however, remained active by performing especially in any live concert which they have access to, under the guidance of Casper Junior (Cee Jay) and Tuntoon Vibration.
After a long absence in the airwaves, 56 HOP ROD is back in 2012 with another hit single "watch your back (BELIGA)" which now turned the tables around for the group. With the help and support from another Honiara based Producer DJ Liamz, Casper Junior, and another media effective video producing team, Reggae Haus, "watch your back" became the group's pivotal point, as much effectively through its music style of reggae dubstep and a bonus with the video of that particular song produced by Reggae Haus.
Now the group, effective as a trio now, is coming out with its first ever album co-produced by Casper Junior (CeeJay) and DJ Liamz recorded under Smars da Sound studio. It is yet to be finalised but under the watchful eyes of Reggae Haus.
Music style is basically Reggae-Raggamuffin blended with other genres which suits the combination.
Setting the mark in Mainstream Solomon Islands music scenario, focus is on maintaining and further building and developing 56 HOP ROD into another step up the music journey so far.
Much love and respect to any one out there who's digging our music style and creativity, one way or the other, we appreciate your support. JAH bless.
