With more than twenty years in media profession and business, Albert Wandago started off as a playwright and actor in 1973 while in High School and by the time he joined the University of Nairobi in 1976 he was already an established short story writer, playwright, actor and theatre director.
On graduation in 1979 with B . Honours Degree in theatre Arts Communication Major, he got his most celebrated play (DUOGO) published and continued to publish short stories and do book and theatre reviews for Nation and the East African Standard newspapers Meanwhile he enrolled for postgraduate film production course at The Kenya Institute of Mass Communications where he graduated with diploma in 1981.

He has directed  and produced over 50 films including drama, docu-drama and plain documentaries featuring gender issues, health and environment. He has also produced several programmes on gender, which have been aired on local radio and Television stations, three of which have won prestigious awards.
His motion picture, Simbi, won the best film during the Kenya International Film Festival
In addition to the films, he has directed comedies and produced more than 200 documentaries.
One of his outstanding comedies is Kibrit (matchbox). The production features Steve Ogana and Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalangâo.
