Justin Gope was born in Mozambique in 1967, and moved to Zimbabwe in 1986.  Having been fascinated with drawing since the age of 12, he had the opportunity in 1991 to send some original work to the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and was invited to join a 3 year workshop for aspiring artists, co-sponsored by BAT and The National Gallery of Zimbabwe.  On completion Justin attained his ''O'' and ''A'' Levels in Art; and his first group exhibition was with the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in 1993.  He has participated in various group exhibitions, and held his first one-man show at the Zimbabwe National Gallery in Mutare in 2002.   Justin's inspiration is derived from a fellow artist and countryman, the late Luis Meque.  His second exhibition was with Richard Rennie and it included Beach and Social Scenes in mixed mediums.  Justin Gope is considered to be one of Zimbabwe's finest and most well-known up and coming artists.
