Born in 1949 in Mali, N?Gou Bagayoko discovers guitar at the age of 21. his interest for this instrument began when he met a music teacher who thought he had good capacities for music.
He?s teacher until 1988 in Bougouni, at two hours in the south from Bamako. In 1980, he makes his first recording as accompnier, orchestra leader and arranger of the singer Nahawa Doumbia who?s from Bougouni. In January 2001, he records his first work with the label Frikyiwa. The album was recorded directly where the artist lives. His way of playing is at the same time strange, unique but familiar.

This is due to the mix of local culture and of an empirical know-how. We can think that this artist is imitating other guitar players but it?s not the case? It?s through the listening of the kamelen n?goni (rural instrument made of 8 strings, a neck and a sound bow and played in the vertical position) that he decides to create his own way of composition. In a way, he plays the guitar like some play the kamelen n?goni. This leads to a strange way of playing. To this, he adds the didadi, typical musical style of Bougouni which characteristics are swing, joyful and dancing melodies. This album is a new experience as N?Gou Bagayoko has found a new musical vocabulary to make his tracks alive because five tracks on ten were realized without singers.
The voices also are strange and beautiful: Nahawa Doumbia, Ramata Doussou and Maï Sandogo. the free of them are from bougouni and each of them have a particular voice and way of singing which gives to the album a colour of sensuality and soothing ness .the album is simple/ voices and guitar. The complementary instruments are kamélé n?goni, water dum, concon barani.
