Salote Tawale is an artist of Australian Pacific Islander heritage (Fiji). Over the past 15 years her arts practice has explored race, ethnicity and gender in relation to Western cultural values. Her works have largely been mediated by photography, video, performance and installation, drawing on performances of the self. Tawale studied at RMIT, Melbourne in 2002 and is currently a Masters of Fine Art at the University of Sydney, NSW.
