Sena Calmine AGBOFOUN was born in Cotonou in the Republic of Benin. After obtaining the Baccalaureat serie A1, she entered the Institut Supérieur des Métiers de l'Audiovisuel where she obtained a professional degree in audiovisual journalism. But she decided to focus on directing. In 2011, she co-directed the documentary short film Ayoka, l'Amazone-mère, in 2012, the documentary short film Djegbadji, temple du sel and in 2016, My passion, my Fight for the African Film Showcase programme. Then, she directed the short film Talk to Me, at LAFF 2016, Luxor, Egypt. Habiba (2016) is her first film as an independent director.
