Writer | Director & freelance production designer.

Shirley BRUNO is a Haitian American filmmaker originally from NYC and rural Massachusetts. She had adventurous stints as a doc filmmaker and clothing designer before going to the London Film School for an MA in Filmmaking. Her shorts The Things I See and Swallowed Lessons have screened at international fests in the UK, Canada, Caribbean, and New York. She is the 2012 recipient of the New York Foundation on the Arts Fellowship. Her first feature in development has received seed funding from the NY State Council on the Arts in 2013. Shirley now lives between NYC & London as a writer/director as well as a freelance production designer. Her films deal with the closeness and loneliness within family, coming of age and immigrant stories particularly from Haiti where there are many stories untold. She's also a big fan of alley cats.
