Yoro Sidibé comes from Bambala, in the district of Sikorolen, circle of Yanfolila, Mali.
The "Donsoya" (being a hunter) is hereditary for Yoro Sidibé.
Out of his family circle Yoro Sidibé has no other teacher even if he confides himself to his elder brothers as the tradition wants it and not by thirst of knowledge or secret of the profession. The n'gonifola (n'goni player) is at the same time the confidant of the Donso and the animator of the relaxation time of the Donsos when they are back from hunting, and some time relates to people the bravery, the surmounted difficulties and the ordeals they had.

In Bambala, they had to to go and seek a in the surroundings villages for the animation of their parties.
In order to alleviate this lack, our artist Yoro Sidibé decided to manufacture his own donso n'goni.

After 32 years of work, this singular donso n'goni player with his bewitching voice has already published about twenty albums.
Yoro Sidibé who has taught about fifteen donso n'goni player draws his inspiration in from his hunting parties and through the behaviour of games.
"The difference between me and the other donso n'goni players locates at this level. To be a good singer, we must first of all be a real donso in order to know the secrets of the profession" he confides.
"The donsoya is an African tradition, the power of all the chiefs in Africa was in the hand of the donsos and were they were often donso" he said. "In Mali, all the villages were created by donsos?"
he continues. Yoro Sidibé plays perfectly the donso n'goni and his fame goes beyond the national frontiers.
