Onspot Magazine's traces its success story back to 2008 when a young man by the name of Amin Swai conceptualized this idea for a youth orientated magazine. As a concerned youth, Amin felt the need to create a platform where Tanzanian youth could garner knowledge on various issues affecting their lives from a magazine dedicated to them as opposed to mainstream magazines dedicated to construction, Fashion, Lifestyle, Gossip and Social Magazines.
He particularly spotted that a majority of the younger generation were making uninformed decisions when it came to career choices, health and professional development. The need for a platform to celebrate the unsung heroes in the entrepreneur and corporate world compelled Amin to come up with the TeenSpot Magazine idea with the assistance of his cousin Pascque Mawalla. Working from their university accommodation, the boys created the first prototype of the magazine and presented it to Tanzania breweries through its Non Alcoholic Brand called Grand Malt for sponsorship.
Astonished by the revolutionary idea, the Company sponsored the first rollout of the copies of the Magazine, facilitating the printing of 2000 copies in the year 2011. The captivating zeal and hard work manifested by Amin in building the TeenSpot brand influenced parterners and related youth organisations to join forces with him as business partners and since then, success has been in their favor.
Like wildfire the movement trended across the country reaching out to teenagers of all walks of life. The catchy, motivating and contemporary slogan "We do it for the Youth" carried by the Magazine soon became a household notion not only to teenagers but also the younger middle aged working class. One year later, after a critical thought process, TeenSpot evolved into Onspot Magazine, now a trendy Youth Lifestyle Magazine catering for not only aspiring teenagers but also aspiring professionals in their 20's and 30's.
Today, the magazine rolls out about 6000 copies quarterly with four times the readership. The Onspot story in itself is a lesson on patience, creativity, teamwork and determination. Through their virtues and skills, the Onspot team remains the architects of a celebrated platform that Educates, Motivates, inspires and yet entertains not only the Tanzanian youth but the youth of East Africa to achieve even greater heights.
