The mandate of Visual Arts Association of Malawi (VAAM) is to promote and protect visual fine arts and crafts industry in Malawi in order to contribute to cultural and socio-economic development.

The Core Values that will guide the conduct of VAAM members are:




Professionalism and integrity: VAAM shall provide quality, timely and ethical products and services to clients.

Equity and equality: VAAM shall provide its services to artists without discrimination or favouritism based on gender, race, or creed.

Cooperation and commitment: VAAM shall endeavour to share knowledge with its stakeholders and be dedicated to duty

Transparency and accountability: VAAM shall be open, honest and provide timely communication in the provision of its services

Originality: VAAMshall create an environment conducive to inspiring imagination and creativity.


Structure



 



At the top VAAM has the general assembly of all the registered artists and crafts people who meet once every three years to assess and approve annual reports, and discuss the ongoing or ever emerging programmes. Next is the nine member board of directors who oversee the performance of the secretariat on a regular basis. The secretariat also called the National Executive Committee (NEC), elected by the general assembly just like the members.



 



VAAM has offices at the Arts House in CLAIM Mabuku building in Blantyre where secretariat services are carried out.
