The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas is pleased to announce the opening of their newest exhibition "The Ace of Spades", a tribute show to The Valley Boys founder, Winston "Gus" Cooper, guest-curated by artist John Beadle and under the patronage of the Right Honorable Perry G. Christie, M.P., Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas & Mrs. Bernadette Christie. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, April 15th, 2014 at 6pm.

The exhibition will not only record Mr. Cooper's momentous contribution to this uniquely Bahamian art form, but will also investigate some of the significant changes and inventions The Valley Boys brought to the construction of Junkanoo costumes. Curator John Beadle is creating the interior of a Junkanoo shack within the galleries of the NAGB, a timeline of the Valley Boys from their foundation to the present day, installing costumes from various parades and creating–with the assistance of Valley artists–a large-scale paste mural on the Gallery's walls. The night's festivities will end with the revelry of a Valley Boys rush-out.
