AFRIKAMERA DISCOURSE AND NETWORKING

AFRIKAMERA has always seen itself as a place for networking and the exchange of know-how between filmmakers, producers, distributors and festival organizers as well as non-governmental organizations from the fields of education and knowledge transfer and development cooperation - from Germany, the African diaspora and the African countries.

In the public discourse program THE ART OF COLLABORATION - Migration & Diaspora, African and European filmmakers and multipliers address questions around (Afro)-diasporic filmmaking. Questions will be raised about identities, narratives and backgrounds and the mutual influence of the diasporic community and the majority society on the film language and the cooperation and networks for transnational filmmaking will be illuminated. Related to this are discussions of what stories diasporic filmmakers want or are able to tell in their films. Production and financing opportunities and the current challenges related to co-productions in transnational cinema will be discussed at the roundtable.

The two-part program on the festival Saturday (12.11.) begins at the Humboldt Forum at 14.00 in Room 2 with a KEYNOTE on the topic SELF-PORTRAYING CINEMA, AN EXPERIMENTAL ATTITUDE ON PERIPHERAL BODIES by Welket Bungué (Guinea-Bissau/Portugal/Germany), director, author and actor ("Berlin Alexanderplatz").
Other filmmakers participating in the DISCUSSION/ ROUNDTABLE that follows are Kantarama Gahigiri (Rwanda/Switzerland), Keni Ogunlola (England/Nigeria), Adolf El Assal (Egypt/Luxembourg), Khadar Ayderus Ahmed (Somalia/Finland), Teboho Edkins (South Africa), Markus CM Schmidt (Germany), Don Edkins (South Africa), Aurélien Bodinaux (Belgium), Innocent Munyeshuri (Rwanda), Neo Mosoang (South Africa).

In the second part of the discourse program of THE ART OF COLLABORATION on Sunday (Nov. 13) at the Arsenal cinema, filmmakers Ike Nnaebue (Nigeria), Ousmane Samassékou (Mali), Delphine Yerbanga (Burkina Faso), Ager Oueslati (Algeria/Tunisia/France) and Rejoyce Kgabo Legodi (South Africa) will talk about identities, belonging, transit and (im)mobility.

On festival Friday (11.11.) a PANEL on the topic NARRATIVES OF ESCAPE will already take place at the Arsenal cinema. Aspects of the unequal treatment of African refugees in comparison to refugees from other regions of the world will be examined together with the question of what influence documentary films can have on socio-political developments. Ousmane Samassékou (Mali), Fatimah Dadzie (Ghana) and Ager Oueslati (Algeria/Tunisia/France) will discuss with representatives of the Tubman Network Berlin and Nyima Jadama from "Nyimas Bantaba" (Alex Berlin).

Afterwards there will be a talk with the artist. At 21.00 follows the screening of FATHER'S DAY (Ruanda 2022) by Kivu Ruhorahoza (Rwanda 2022).
