EncontrARTE lays the groundwork towards better technical and artistic skills, and a greater appreciation and involvement of youths in the preservation of cultural expressions.

The principal aim is to create a space for sharing and exchange that enhances the enrichment of cultural heritage through the encounter of different artistic expressions, solidifying traditional forms of representations through the creation of "bridges" with more contemporary artistic expressions.

The 1st edition of EncontrARTE occurred in 2009, under the motto "AFRICAN MEETING OF CREATION" involving artists from Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Reunion Island, Madagascar, Mali, Senegal and Ivory Coast.

Conference

The "Conference on Creative Industries and Cultural Rights" will take place on 4 and 5 September, at the French-Mozambican Centre (Centro Cultural Franco-Moçambicano, CCFM). This event is a platform for sharing, analysing and evaluating the experiences of developing and implementing cultural public policies. The objective is to understand the impact of the action of different actors, the creative industry, the mechanisms of access to culture and respect for cultural rights.

The core of participants will consist of managers and cultural administrators, business representatives, associative/artistic, academic, media, students and civil society actors.

Following the conference, on September 6th, workshops and cultural management activities are held with artistic exchange events.

"Cultural" Moot Court

The "Cultural" Moot Court takes place on September 4th aiming to provide a forum for debate between creators, producers and consumers of the arts, as well as professionals, academics and law students on issues related to cultural rights in Mozambique and its applicability.

It consists of a meeting of academic and practical nature, among students from the Law Faculty of University Eduardo Mondlane (UEM), Institute of Science and Technology of Mozambique (Instituto Superior de Ciências e Tecnologia de Moçambique, ISCTEM), and students of the School of Communication and Arts (Escola de Comunicação e Arte, ECA). Students, grouped in multidisciplinary teams, as in a judicial forum, discuss a hypothetical case that gathers aspects related to Intellectual Propriety Rights.

Artistic Creation

EncontrARTE 2012 integrates spaces for the exchange of artistic creation. In these spaces, artists from different countries meet in an environment conducive to creating collective works involving music and artistic disciplines such as multimedia, photography and visual arts.

- Creation Nwadjahane:
Residence Nwadjahane [Gaza] - Nwadjahane Museum (Memorial Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane). Integrated in the local context of Nwadjahane, in the province of Gaza, the participants live side-by-side with community members, sharing artistic and cultural experiences that will culminate in creating a unique work that will be presented at the Festival of Zavala and at the French-Mozambican Cultural Centre, in Maputo on September 6th at 20.30.
In Mwadjahane, the creation will feature artists Xingomana belonging to local groups and will be led by artists such as SHUDE MONDLANE (Mozambique ;Guitar and Vocal) - NARF (real name Fran Peres ; Spain ; Guitar and Vocal) - VINICIOS (Brasil ; Guitar Bass e Cavaquinho) - CHENY WA GUNE (Mozambique ; Timbila, Mbira, Xitende and Vocal) - AMOCHE LAMUSSENE (Mozambique ; Vocal, Perc.Timbila)

- Residence Maputo:
It was conceived by the Mozambican artist CHILDO TOMÁS, who lives in Spain and known in Mozambique through the legendary group Alambique. Internationally known through his presence in major jazz festivals next to important international artists such as Omar Sousa, Childo proposes a residence built in the traditional, experimental and urban context of Maputo city, where different disciplines such as dance, painting, music and multimedia will meet. The resulting work will be presented at the French-Mozambican Cultural Centre on September 7th at 20.30. On stage artists such as Childo Tomás (bassist, percussionist and singer) - Dancers of the National School of Music and Dance (Companhia Nacional Canto e Dança, CNCD) and Idasse (Fine Artist).
Guests: Roberto Xitsondzo & Arão Litsure (guitar, vocals), Orlando (sax) e Orlanda (bass) da Conceição, Larsen (piano), Timotio (sax) e Cabral (guitar).

Exhibition

The first Exhibition of Creative Industry happens simultaneously with the conference, at the French-Mozambican Cultural Centre. During the event, various actors connected to the world of arts and entertainment will be represented allowing visitors to discover the processes of creation and consumption of creative goods and services.

During the exhibition what is called "Show Case" will be presented. Show Case is a presentation space and/ or creation of works of art, exchange ideas and perspectives always bearing in mind the emergence of future collaborations.
Highlights for EXPOntâeo on September 5th, a space for experimentation and collective creation of works of multidisciplinary arts simultaneously with the "Jam Session".
The presentation of the new album Haitrim RAS, a collaboration of music Reggae, HipHop and Electronics with the presence of "Rapper" Azagaia and Pedro of 340ml.
