The Gallery of Ocenaian ART is exhibiting photographic works by Kathleen Hawkes, american artist, full bright scholar and Assistant Professor of photography at the University of IWsconsin La Crosse. As a child Hawkes lived in the SOuth Pacific while her parents were working at USP. Twenty Years later, she returned to develop a photographic project about the region. For over a decade, Hawkes' artistic practice has instigated themes of personal history and one's relationship to domestic space and material culture. The works in her series "Ocen Land" explore ideas of family, home, environment, belonging and childhood memory in Oceania. This project and exhibition have been supported by the Fullbright Program, UW-L College of Liberal Studies and USP.
