The ANSS, (National Association of AIDS and HIV sufferers in Burundi) is a first-of-its-kind association, working on the field to fight AIDS. Made up exclusively of natives of Burundi and primarily women, it tallies three thousand members and treats over one quarter of all triple therapy patients in the country."On ordinary Struggle" introduces us to some of these women and teenagers who are actively involved in the association.

In a country torn to pieces by civil strife, this illness is just another ramification of the wider and ubiquitous problem of social disarray: families which have lost solidarity, inescapable poverty, lack of faith in the future. In this gloomy context, the film manages to throw a glimmer of hope on this association which has the merit of proposing local and appropriate solutions to the suffers' isolation.

Trough these images, we can witness the extraordinary energy expended by the members of this association, who seem to be winning the fight against the illness both on the individual and collective levels.
