Erased, Ascent of the Invisible offers a reflection on the thousands of people who disappeared during the civil war in Lebanon and their absence still present in the hearts of their loved ones. The director scratches (sometimes literally) through the layers of Lebanese history and rethinks the topography of today's Beirut.

"Thirty-five years ago, I witnessed the kidnapping of a man I knew. He has never been seen since. Ten years ago, I saw his face as I walked down the street, but I wasn't sure if it was him. Parts of his face had been torn off, but his features had not changed since the incident. Yet something was different, as if it was not the same man" (Ghassan Halwani).
