Using photographs from the magazine "Drum Magazine" (an old literary magazine) and clips of rare features, this documentary describes the urban life of black South Africans in the 1950s. This movie also talks about young Nelson Mandela sparring in a boxing ring, Olivier Tambo as a brilliant lawyer, Trevor Huddleston demonstrating against the demolition of Sophiatown, Chief Luthuli the Nobel Peace prize winner and President of the African National Congress, and Myriam Makeba.
