Benin has a huge natural resources potential, including Lake Ahémé. The lake shelters fish, crabs and other aquatic species. Mangroves play a crucial role not only for Lake Ahémé but also for the ecosystem as they contribute to protecting biodiversity. The destruction of the aquatic flora and particularly the destruction of mangroves on the shores of Lake Ahémé have a neg-ative impact on the environment and the economy.
