Inspired by Mouloud Mammeri's novel, this chronicle the first film in Berber language, tells the story of an isolated community in the mountain of Kabylie whose existence is threatened by the colonial power and its own intern struggles. World War II breaks out. Two young students are called back from France to their village to be mobilized. Enthralled by their energy and youth, Mokrane and Menach, torn between their desire to respect tradition and their desire for change, struggle in a universe filled with contradictions.
Forbidden loves, comments on the uselessness of studying and a sickness of living into dances and chants.
