Réda, summoned to accompany his father on a pilgrimage to Mecca, complies reluctantly - as he preparing for his bachelor's degree and, even more important, has a secret love relationship. As both embark on a road trip thousands of kilometres away from southern France in a broken-down car, the once-icy father-and-son relationship starts to thaw as both gradually come to know each other.

Profonda esplorazione del Marocco di oggi, illustrata sul filo dei ricordi personali. Mona è una giovane francese. La sua vita viene scossa quando apprende che suo padre era marocchino. Con un nome (Mahmoud Saber), una foto in bianco e nero e una lettera d'amore indirizzata alla madre, Mona parte per il Marocco alla ricerca delle proprie radici. Il suo viaggio tra Casablanca e Essaouira le farà scoprire le differenti realtà di una paese che credeva lontano.
