Paul Gilliat returns home from film school. He was immediately charged with entering the theatre world and spying on a so-called subversive author. He tries to seduce an actress, Celia, by pretending to want to make a film against apartheid. More than a detective film, it is a political film about the mentality of white middle-class people, that was censored in South Africa.
