It was the 19 January 1978, that day was born Alleluya Band. Father Mario arrived in Balaka, Malawi, from exactly one year and that day the children of the mission prepared a big surprise party to celebrate its first anniversary using handcrafted guitars and containers of oil as drums. Since then, much time has passed and now the Alleluya Band is one of the musical reference for Malawi. We sing hunger, AIDS and poverty, but also love, family and ideals of life through our music, a mix of reggae and African rumba rhythms with the influence of the various local tribes. We have been to World Youth Day in Rome in 2000, to Cologne in 2005, to Sydney in 2008, to Madrid in 2011 and will participate in this year to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This will be an opportunity to bring the voice of Malawi into the world and to arrive in Italy in the major italian squares for perform us with traditional songs and dances with a dual purpose, artistic and social As regards the latter aspect, every year, in agreement with the local community, we set an ambitious goal to be realized with income of the tour. The cultural aspect instead aims to make known through a joyful and universal tool like the song, traditions and customs of Malawi. Our cry is TIYIMBIRE MOYO NDI CHIMWEMWE, which translated from Chichewa means LET'S SING LIFE WITH JOY. Coss Chiwalo
