Solomonic Peacocks Theatre

Solomonic Peacocks Theatre is a professional theatre company and Non-Governmental Organisation based in Blantyre, Malawi.

Solomonic Peacocks Theatre was founded in 1999 in Blantyre and has since risen to become one of the most celebrated theatre groups in Malawi with a following across southern Africa. The name Solomonic Peacocks Theatre originates from the fortitude of King Solomon in the Bible and from the flamboyant and liveliness of our native peacock and we strive to bring these qualities into our work wherever we go.

We are a full service production company that operates without government subsidies. Despite this we have performed over 30 professional theatre productions throughout Malawi, across southern Africa and overseas. Although our body of work is diverse we are always committed to staging plays that are relevant to present day Malawi. We produce adaptations of famous classics, devised pieces and also stage new writing. We also regularly attend theatre festivals in which we perform as well as conduct workshops to allow for an exchange of ideas. Wherever we travel we are committed to staging plays of exceptional quality as well as learning from others to inform and improve our own working process.
