African Footprint International, a Cape Coast based group last week held a one day music/dance workshop for students of Øster Jølby Skole in the Danish town of Nykøbing.

Currently on a performance tour of Denmark and other Scandinavian countries, the group led by Samuel Kweku Addison introduced the students to the rudiments of various Ghanaian traditional rhythms, dances and songs.

With different tempos from the Ghanaian musicians, the enthusiastic students moved in loops and chanted Ghanaian folk songs as they danced to components of Northern Ghanaian dances such as "Bamaya" and "Damba".

They students equally took turns on the basics of traditional Ghanaian drumbeats as they freely explored their creativity while responding to wild applause form their colleagues and teachers.

A number of students later joined the group in a performance that unearthed their talent and capabilities as future artists when offered the opportunity to showcase their artistic faculties.

"We are truly delighted to have African Footprint for today's workshop – we had lots of fun – we look forward to see the group in our school soon", said some students, who were still practicing the movements.

Based in Cape Coast, the tour of African Footprint International in Denmark is being supported by Keld Hosbond, Royal Music Academy (Aarhus), Klejtrup Musikefterskole, Addison's Mighty Works Aps and www.artsghana.org.
