One of Malawi's top designers Lilly Alfonso is expected to leave for Amsterdam in the Netherlands on May 27 to attend the I am Fashion event on May 30.
An invitation letter from Dorine Edenburg, organiser of the event, which The Nation has seen, reads; "As we know, you are one of the best designers in Africa, in humbleness we want to invite you for the I Am Fashion in Amsterdam on May 30 2015.
"Also as a role model, we would love to see you speak to young fashion designers in Europe and Africa that will participate at the business empowerment conference, on your journey as a successful fashion designer."
According to www.queenofafrica.net , Alfonso, who will showcase her 10 creations, will be joined at the event by designers from across the globe such as, LaufroStyle, Dauvia, Dinkra and Zeza.
Alfonso has expressed her excitement about the trip adding that the exposure she will get will benefit Malawi.
"I am happy that people not only in Malawi and Africa recognise what I am doing. Apart from learning from others, I will take advantage of the event to teach others about Malawi through the motivation speech I am scheduled to make. It is worth noting that I am the only designer speaking at the event from the people that have been invited at the event," she said.
I am Fashion is an event organized by Queen of Africa, an Amsterdam based fashion promotion
firm.
