One of the country's dancehall entertainers, Otis Chilamba aka Blasto, has taken advantage of his US tour to enter several deals involving recording his music as well as appearing in a movie project while conducting performances.

In an interview with The Daily Times from the US, Blasto said he will start recording as well as acting this week.

"I will be recording some material this week on Friday with New Jersey big rapper Robbie Maxie and then will get my first role in a movie which starts filming on Saturday," he explained.

He said the movie is called King of Newark and it features rappers like Maino and Vado among some notable names in it.

"We are also going to shoot a video for the single 'Rebel' with a company called Hi Five Productions," he said.

Blasto says his trip so far has been very successful.

"The whole trip has been a great success because America is a land of so many opportunities and if the material is right you get the love it deserves so it has been fun all the way," he said.

He said he first went to the USA under the banner of the charity organisation called Operation Smile and his first performance was at a benefit concert called Rock the smile along the Virginia Beach.

He said his next show was when he curtainraised for a USA rapper Freeway who had a concert in New Jersey.

"I have my next show in New York on April 7 and I am going to perform with Freeway again on April 15 in New York," he explained.

Besides performing he says he has also had talks about Malawi in some high schools in the USA.

He said he will still be in the USA until later in the year.
