Showcasing at what designers called Illusions at this years Hifa, the artists brought a collection of modern and traditional designs with awesome simplicity underpinned by uniquely Zimbabwean design aesthetics.

The showcase, which featured Zed label designers, Vanhu Vamwe and local leather artisans drew fashion lovers from all age groups.

Among the designs were leather bags, leather satchels with multiple functions, handbags, sling bags and leather purses.

Samukange, one of the designers, said: "My creations are unique in that they offer multiple functions. As you can see, my leather satchel is one, but it has a detachable purse on it."

Samukange thanked Hifa for allowing them to showcase their creations.

Chido Rupango, one of the amazing designers, said: "I am a psychologist by profession, but I love fashion design. To me it's a passion. I am a full-time designer now. All my creations are inspired by my culture."

An elderly woman who attended the event thanked the designers for making her understand that leather could do more wonders than she already knew.

"I did not know that leather can be manipulated like this. I need your designs," she quipped.
