The artist and poetess Nicole Coppey was awarded the International Audiovisual Poetry Prize 2020, awarded by the Académie Claudine de Tencin for her whole work in audiovisual poetry, which contains more than 400 original creations and has been translated into 18 languages. Her newest work, an audiovisual transcription of her poem-calligram "Danseuse amoureuse" has just been published online.
"This International Prize rewards all the efforts made by an artist-poet to create and disseminate audiovisual poetry in France and elsewhere in the world." specifies Dina Sahyouni, President of the Claudine Academy of Tencin.
According to the President, "Nicole Coppey, an atypical artist and traveler, is one of the rare contemporaries who skillfully combines music, arts and poetry. Her artistic production is original, breathtaking and invigorating. It also restores poetry to its mystical vocation. Nicole Coppey is an outstanding creator, but she is also an inventive performer. Without a doubt, she is an important figure in 21st century poetry. Nicole Coppey is one of the artists who inspires me, her authentic poetry comes from the heart."
Director and founder of the School of Musical Art " Un, Deux, Trois, Musiques…" in Sion, Nicole Coppey, also a musician and pedagogue, combines artistic creation and educational transmission in a philosophy of interiority and movement. With pianistic and musical pedagogical training, the artist is fascinated by the diversity of the cultural, artistic, musical and poetic riches of the world. From the sound and hearing domain in which she evolves through her musical, poetic and musical-poetic activity, Nicole Coppey transposes her works visually and materially, exploring the calligram and the dance: the first as the crystallization of movement and the occupation of space of the canvas by the verb and the line, the second as a living and expressive creation on duty for thought. Combining forms, colors and choreographies then becomes a medium for verbal expression and its spatial and temporal dynamics.
"My artistic approach brings together different Arts into a global whole, like the different facets of life that come together in the human person" explains Nicole Coppey "This philosophy induces the permanent movement ... In fact poetry is for me a movement of the Soul. I transfer my poetry into graphic movements and decline it in different ways: writing the poem, drawing the poem (calligram), audio recording of the poem, video recording of the danced movement, poetic imaging in audiovisual form which brings it all together ".
