Musician Kendall Kamwendo will soon hit the big screens-not with a music video, but with a full-length movie Where My Heart Belongs.
Kendall is one half of music duo Symon and Kendall, famous for using culinary idioms in their music since the 2004 hit Nyemba Nyemba.
The movie, which has been produced by Kaya Films in Lilongwe, is his second attempt in film-making after Just a Day, a situational comedy premiered in 2008.
Where My Heart Belongs is centred on a mechanic named David who falls in love with Lucy, a white-collar working class girl, but soon ends up in a love triangle.
Lucy is lost in the dichotomy of material versus love.
The one-hour-50-minutes movie is set in Lilongwe and was written and produced by Kendall and directed by Bester Kauwa. It also features the Nyemba Nyemba artist in the lead role.
In an interview with The Nation, Kendall said he has always had a passion for filmmaking.
"I like writing short stories, and now I am rewriting most of them for screen and people should expect more movies from me," he said.
The artist said not all movies he writes will be directed and produced by him.
He said he has finished working on a script for his third movie Too Late due in December to be directed by Bester Kauwa who also directed Where My Heart Belongs.
