Women in the Spotlight

Combating discrimination against women is one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. This objective is also applicable with reference to women in culture, Having the same development opportunities and also participating in cultural activities of their choice, are guaranteed by the Maputo Protocol and the Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination towards women.

Artwatch Africa therefore intends to develop and protect these rights as part of the African Women in Cultural Leadership Project initiated by Arterial Network Kenya.

From 17 to 18 March 2015, about twenty women, journalists and cultural managers will be invited to discuss this topic which deserves much more attention.
