The Grand Jury would like to congratulate all the filmmakers... our thoughts and sometimes heated, always lively discussions during the week of screenings and deliberations.
Great films and Difficult decisions!
We wish we could have been there with you to present :
For its freshness, unique cinematic voice, and its bold contribution to contemporary Arab cinema with the ability to entertain while uncovering the social and political fabric of the country and region. The Gold Tanit goes to the Egyptian film The Stories, directed by Abu Bakr Shawky from Egypt
For its remarkable emotional depth and storytelling precision, capturing the fragile bond between a father and his children against a backdrop of political tension, exploring memory and connection. The Silver Tanit is awarded to My Father's Shadow, directed by #akinoladaviesjr(Nigeria)
For its sensitive and nuanced portrayal of mental illness, and for addressing women's issues through a delicate, original, and deeply human cinematic approach. The Bronze Tanit is awarded to Sink, directed by Zain Duraie from Jordan,
In these exceptional times and during an ongoing genocide in Palestine, the Jury recognizes a film's remarkable artistic integrity, ethical courage, and the precision of its cinematic language. In a world of enforced silence, this film allows a voice to be heard - with clarity, restraint, and humanity. The Jury would like to give an exceptional"Prix d'Honneur of the Jury to #TheVoiceOfHindRajab by Kaouther Ben Hania (Tunis).
The jury could not overlook the remarkable performance of a young actor who carried a large part of the film. The Special Jury Prize is awarded to Hussein Raad Zuwayr for his role in "IRKALA: Gilgamesh's Dream."
We often hear it said that there is no such thing as a small role. In reality, supporting roles can also carry a film, and the strong presence of a character in a single scene can leave a lasting impression throughout the story. The Best Actor Award is presented to @NaïlAlDhufairy for his role in the Saudi film #HIJRA
The screenplay offers us a slice of life as we love to watch it: beautiful storytelling, moving characters, and the feeling of looking into a mirror-one that reflects our own societies.
The Best Screenplay Award is presented to Amel Guellaty for "Where Does the Wind Take Us?"
Because a sense of geography-both external and internal-was skillfully established, creating an atmosphere that appealed to all our senses; The Best Production Design Award is presented to "My Father's Scent" by Mohammed Siam and its Production Designer Assem Ali.
Moved by a harmonious musical weaving in service of the film, allowing us to travel between traditional sounds and contemporary dynamics; The Best Music Award is presented to "Diya" by Achille Ronaimou and its composer Afrotronix.
The Best Cinematography Award is presented to Hijra by Shahad Ameen and its Director of Photography @MiguelIoannLittinMenz, for the way the splendor of the landscapes, the diversity of visual atmospheres, and the attention paid to faces all contribute to the film's dynamic energy.
The Best Editing Award is presented to Diya by Achille Ronaimou and its editor @GuillaumeTalvas for the way the film follows-through a rhythmic yet multi-tonal approach-the journey of the main character as he confronts a wide range of challenges of very different natures.
