Musicians praise Mr Entertainer

Sunday took time out to praise Entertainers Promotions' boss Jai Banda popularly known Mr Entertainer for helping in the development of arts in the country particularly music.



The musicians said this at Lilongwe Golf Club during a massive show which Entertainers Promotions organised in the capital city pulling together music heavyweights including Chileka based reggae group Black Missionaries and Soldier Lucius Banda and his Zembani Band.



During the concert dubbed Sound and Light, Entertainers Promotions launched the state of the art stage.



Lucius said Mr Entertainer has done a lot to the music industry and praised him for organising this show which attracted a huge audience.



"I have been in the music industry for at least 30 years and in this journey, l have never seen or performed to such a huge crowd like today, not even when you bring in popular artists from beyond our borders. I say thank you to Mr Entertainer for his passion for music," said the Balaka based musician, who is set to release his 18th album titled Thank You.



Skeffa Chimoto who performed with his Real Sounds Band said what Mr Entertainer has invested in music is a clear testimony that music is in his blood.



"I want to urge you Malawians to borrow a leaf from Jai Banda. He has really helped in the growth of music in the country. By holding this show does not necessarily mean that he has a lot of money but great passion for music and Malawian artists. This is the support we cry for," said the 'Chinamuluma Chakuda,' hit maker.



He called on those Malawians who have the muscle to support the industry to do so.



Mr Entertainer, who has announced that he wants to retire and leave the work to his son Tonderai said the concert was also part of unveiling their new musical equipment.



The other artists who performed at the concert include Dan Lufani, Nepman, Soul Raiders and Lulu.



Mr. Entertainer said he was happy that the show had pulled a huge audience.



"I have never received such great support before and I am happy that people have enjoyed the music vibes," he said.



Dan Lu, who impressed on the day, wooing fans with his renditions 'Holy Ghost Fire,' and 'Shupie,' also heaped praise on Mr Entertainer, the artist knelt down during his performance and offered a prayer asking God to shower blessings on Jai Banda for him to continue taking music to another level.



Black Missionaries' lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani said:



"This is great. This is wonderful. I thought that may be Mr. Entertainer will surprise us with a popular artist from abroad, but no he said all this is for us. I am amazed," he said.



Nicknamed 'The Jewel of Chileka,' Anjiru also took time to back their newly released songs off their Kuimba 10 album singles which have received heavy criticism.



He said Malawians will soon start liking the new songs.



"I want to assure you that we took our time and have done a lot for our new album. Take your time and you will like the songs," said Anjiru.



Of the four released songs, 'Tizingocheza,' enjoyed massive time and was played back to back upon request from the audience.



Lulu also performed at the concert which went all the way to midnight and he started off with the national anthem before offering his songs.
