Having worked together over the past years in different projects including starring in some productions, Nanzikambe Arts and Germany's Theatre Konstanz are into another fresh collaboration which will see the two staging a play titled Waiting for Godot.

Nanzikambe Arts Managing Director Chris Nditani confirmed the move yesterday saying Waiting for Godot is a play which is in Chichewa. He said the new project with Theatre Konstanz runs from December 13 through to December 28.

He said through the collaboration, Theatre Konstanz is sending a director for the play Alex who will be working with two Nanzikambe Arts actors Mphundu Mjumira and Geoffrey Mbene.

Nditani also said that in addition, there will also be a technician, Antonio who will be working with Blessings Hiwa, Rhobert Magasa and Noah Bulambo.

"This is a capacity building programme for us. The technician will bring with him loads of lighting and sound equipment in line with the capacity building programme," he said. Nditani said hopefully the play will be launched on December 26 at Arts Café in Blantyre.

"This will actually be our last play at the current venue Arts Café in Naperi as we will be relocating to our new home in Chimwankhunda. This is a new and permanent yet to be constructed home," he said.

He could not be drawn to say why they are moving from Arts Café in Naperi. Nditani said the project with Theatre Konstanz is a spillover benefit of the three year partnership they have had which has also seen some actors travelling to Germany to enhance their acting skills.

Through the Theatre Konstanz partnership, Nanzikambe Arts actors also went to Germany where they collaborated with their Togolese and Germany counterparts in different activities.

"As for Nanzikambe Arts, our shows will have value addition through professionally managed sound and lighting perspectives thereby making theatre lovers enjoy it even more. The element of capacity building is in tandem with Nanzikambe Arts' essence of existence, which is, working primarily for enhancing artistic excellence and professionalism," he said.
