WHAT started as a simple idea of a group of colleagues of similar background and interests has seen the United Kingdom-based online radio, Pamtengo, winning this year's Best Radio at the BEFFTA Awards held on October 25, at the Hippodrome, Golders Green in London, the UK.

Looking gloriously elegant, it was indeed a marvel to watch Pamtengo Radio representatives march majestically to receive the 2014 Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) Awards.

Speaking exclusively in a telephone interview upon receiving the news, Pamtengo Radio CEO Golden Tshux said the recognition showed a true
reflection of the outstanding achievements and contributions that Pamtengo Radio gives back to the community through radio excellence.

"This is a collective effort by everyone involved. We obviously have a responsibility to thank all our DJs, Presenters and the technical team for making this to happen," said Tshux, who fronts the exceptionally diversed and talented team hailing from Zimbabwe, Malawi, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Poland.

The CEO added: "We are obviously indebted to all our fans and we take the responsibility to thank each and every one who voted for us to win the prestigious award."
BEFFTA Awards is a distinctly special awards ceremony honouring the best showbiz and entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, the US, Africa, the Caribbean Islands, Canada and globally.

Pamtengo Radio dates back March 2013 and advocates for provision of news, shared knowledge and cultural perspective that connect and reflect vibrant and diverse communities, according to Tshux.

The award-winning radio station, which currently boasts of 20 employees, is also about maintaining a local/abroad focus for sharing music, arts, culture, news and opinions.

Sponsored by World Cargo International as its prime financier, Pamtengo Radio was also blessed with two other nominations for two of its DJs namely Golden Tshux and DJ Bily for BEFFTA's Best DJ of the Year category.

"We, therefore, embrace this award as a symbol for hardwork. It has otherwise proved we are indeed an ultimately collection of talented DJs and Presenters," he said.

Pamtengo Radio caters for a wide variety of programmes ranging from magazine programmes, gospel and musicals that mainly promote Afro beats and Afro-fusion of Africa's exceptionally traditional rhythms, dancehall, Caribbean reggae and dancehall, polish music as well entertainment, opinions and hard news featuring on Pamtengo website.

Also adding a different dimension to radio is the production of a comprehensive range of cost effective tools that Pamtengo offers from simple radio jingles to complex beatmixers, drycuts, sweepers, intros as well as great radio commercials.
