Cariforum Cultural Centre Barbados

Part of the Cariforum/Cariforo group of Cultural Centres in the region. Mrs. Jeanette Allsopp is consultant lexicographer at the Barbados centre. "The Cariforum Cultural Centres Project, a regional project of the European Union and Cariforum governments in the region, is funded under the 7th EDF in the amount of EURO 2 million (US$2.1 million). Cultural centres have been established in Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, as a first phase in the creation of a network of Cariforum Cultural Centres. Governments of Cariforum are of the view that the centres will contribute positively to the creation of an enabling environment that allows for the development of cross-cultural linkages and cultural integration. The objectives of the project are to promote Cariforum cultural integration, cultural identities and cultural exchanges, and to encourage intra-Cariforum cultural communication."
