Göteborg International Film Festival Fund
Göteborg International Film Festival Fund is supporting film production in the developing countries.

The Göteborg International Film Festival has been growing for just over twenty years now to become one of northern Europe's most important festivals, and the definite Nordic meeting place for film, film-makers and the audience. This is where the business and the audience encounter films from the whole world also from film-makers far from the European support systems or the American studios. These are films which otherwise seldom or never reach either the screens or television channels of Europe. Time and again throughout the years, we have witnessed film art's unique opportunities for crossing cultural and geographical boundaries, but we have also felt concern about the notorious difficulties facing developing countries film-makers when trying to realise their projects.

This is why the Göteborg International Film Festival has decided to take the obvious step, working in co-operation with the Swedish International Cooperation Developing Agency, (SIDA) to actively help with film production in the developing countries. It is also our responsibility to ensure that these stories continue to be told, just as it is up to us to make sure they are screened here in our part of the world. The Göteborg Film Festival Fund will be cooperating with the Hubert Baals fund of the Rotterdam Film Festival. This fund has so far supported more than a hundred films. The experience, contacts and knowledge amassed by the Hubert Bals fund will be of enormous benefit to the Göteborg International Film Festival Fund and together the two funds will go on strengthening the opportunities that are available to the film-makers of the world.
