The Royal Poinciana tree has long been a signifier for the Caribbean. Artists and writers alike try to capture the fierce, vermillion beauty that these trees display in summer months.

Poinciana Paper Press is a place for writers of the Caribbean and its diaspora to share their stories of longing and belonging, of passion, of fire, of people and place. Poinciana Paper Press is dedicated to preserving the voice of these writers in limited-edition, hand-made chapbooks and broadsides.

Just as people and place are so tightly interwoven, text and its vessel are also inseparable, so an array of printmaking, paper-making, letterpress-printing and book-binding techniques are utilized for each book to bring its words to life.

At Poinciana Paper Press we invite you to share your stories, lay down your roots, and watch the fire smolder on the pages you write.

Poinciana Paper Press was founded by Sonia Farmer in 2009. After being somewhat of a nomad press, printing and operating out of New York City and then London, the UK, it is now based permanently out of The Bahamas.
