Born in 1989, lives and works between Boujdour and Rabat

Abdessamad El Montassir is a resident researcher at IMéRA, Institute of Advanced Studies - Aix Marseille University.
He is a graduate of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan, as well as of the master's degree in Art Education and Aesthetic Education at the École Normale Supérieure in Meknes, for which he received the prize for excellence.

He has participated in several national and international exhibitions, including Invisible curated by Alya Sebti for the 13th Biennale of Contemporary African Art in Dakar and for ifa Berlin, Al Amakine for the 11th Rencontres de Bamako, Saout Africa(s), as part of documenta 14 at SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin, Home for the Mediterranea 18 Young Artists Biennial in Tirana and Durrës, Don't Agonize, Organize at Poppositions in Brussels, Résistance at the Young International Artists in Paris, La SERRE at the Cyber Park in the framework of the 6th Biennial in Marrakech, Open Studio - Résistance at the Cube - independent art room in Rabat or Mastermind #4 at the Venise Cadre gallery in Casablanca.

Abdessamad El Montassir has also taken part in several artistic residencies: the Art, Science and Society programme at IMéRA in Marseille, the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, the summer's lab at the Cube - independent art room in Rabat, the Résidence Méditerranée at La Friche La Belle de Mai in Marseille, and a residency at Espace 150×195 in Martil. He has also participated in the Art, Technology and Ecology, Production and Post-production laboratory run by L'Appartement 22 between Fez and Rabat.
