Achola Rosario is a virtually self-taught artist having only done half a year of art A-level. She comes from a background of traditional herbalist doctors and dream interpreters, which is why her work often have those dream-like qualities with layers of symbolism. As a journalist, she documents societies norms and values, especially since she studied at a prestigious boarding school in England and a French school in Uganda. It has exposed her to world philosophers and prevalent scientific and historical thoughts, which she seeks to overturn by placing African historical and scientific knowledge in its rightful global context. She counts as influences Friedah Khalo, Georgia Okeefe and Salvador Dali
