Adele Beckles is like most women who wear their hair natural; well almost. She got tired of her relaxed hair, did the big chop (cut off all her relaxed hair), she went through that awkward transition stage and then added long braid extensions as a way of growing her hair out of that stage.
Beckles is all too familiar with dealing with dry natural hair and has gone through enough natural hair products to know they were too expensive and were most times not effective - and this is where she differs from most natural hair wearers.
A third year student at the School of Pharmacy, UWI, Beckles one day took stock of all the hair products she accumulated since going natural and made a mental note of what she spent on them.
"I found a brand that really worked for me but it was $60 US a jar. And you know how natural hair sucks up products?
"One day I thought I am in pharmacy school and I have access to lab professionals why not make my own products."
Since most women with relaxed hair are embracing their natural hair, Beckles also saw a market that was wide open for a new natural hair product in this country.
