Antonio began dancing at the age of seven, at his church, where he gained a strong background in choreography. In 2006 Antonio played a big role in laying foundation for breakdance project Uganda, a project with a mission to use breakdance and other elements of hip hop to promote positive social change and social responsibility amongst young people. Since then he has done large amount of voluntary work on grass root level developing relationships with young people and building their self-esteem and leadership skills through workshops and events. www.bpuevents.org
He was a winner of Uganda's prestigious Hotsteps dance competition Season 1 in 2008. Antonio is a founding member of Breakdance Project Uganda and Tabu Flo Dance Company. Following on these successes, Antonio opened Kampala's first hip hop dance studio, and is an accomplished teacher and choreographer in hip hop, dancehall, African and contemporary styles. In 2012 developed an African arts and dance education program which he has rolled out in schools across Germany and which he hopes to bring back to Uganda to teach young Ugandans. Antonio is an invaluable member of the Batalo East team, providing both creative and technical input.
He has had the opportunity to work with other organisation as a professional dancer facilitator and volunteer like:
Music May Day- a project that aims at providing opportunities for creative and artistic development of youth in Africa working towards a future in which all youth are able to contribute to a better world.
In Movement it is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO), founded in 2006, that implements arts education programs with orphans and other disadvantaged youth in Uganda.
In 2008, he became the 1st winner ever of a national dance competition [hotsteps], he opened up a dance studio in Kampala and taught people of all ages and backgrounds different styles of dance. Recently re-opened session under a new name Antonioz Dance Session.
In the same year he joined a contemporary dance company now known as Uganda National Contemporary which gave him diversity in style and also ventured into music, which he paused for a while to concentrate on Dance but with hopes to resume.
He has done lots of teaching as dance enrichment teacher for the after school program for international schools like Heritage International school and Acorn school.
He has worked for global communications company, MTN, through Dotways Marketing Bureau as a promotional assistant 2006 to 2007. He has done other huge campaigns including billboard advertisement and TV commercials for international companies like Mountain Dew, Warid Telecom, SARAYA and Uganda telecom.
Since August 2012 he runs Arts 2 hearts project aimed at promoting cultural exchange and breakdown of stereo types in Africa and the rest of the world.
