Bingöl Elmas was born in 1976, in Erzurum.
She graduated from the Radio, Television and Cinema department of Marmara University Faculty of Communication. In 1997 she won the first, second and special jury award for the best news report - programme with the projects she realised at MIHA (Marmara University News Agency).
She worked as a reporter at various national television channels between 1998 and 2001 as well as director's assistant in TV programmes. Also she worked at The Association of Documentary Filmmakers in Turkey (BSB) for 8 years (between 2001 and 2008) which is the only professional union in the field of documentary. On her documentary films, she worked as a director, producer and scriptwriter. "Cicadant"("Agustos Karıncası" 2005), her first documentary film has been screened in various festivals and won the award for the best documentary film at the 42nd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.

Bingöl Elmas, 1976'da Erzurum'da doğdu. Eğitimini Marmara Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi Radyo Televizyon ve Sinema bölümünde tamamladı. Haber bültenlerinde muhabirlik ve yönetmenlik deneyiminin ardından, 2001-2008 yılları arasında Türkiye Belgesel Sinemacılar Birliği'nde çalıştı. Yönetmen, yapımcı ve senarist olarak çeşitli belgeseller çekti. Ağustos Karıncası (2005) adlı belgesel filmi Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festivali'nde birincilik ödülü kazandı.
