Growing up in Rubavu, in the West of Rwanda, as the oldest of six children, Dominic Nic Ashimwe was born on December 10, 1985. He grew up in a Christian family where he developed christian discipline.


At the age of 8, he joined the little kids' choir in the Pentecostal Church in Rubavu. Dominic Nic developed the love for music and heard everything from music legends Lucky Dube, R.Kelly, Craig David, Miriam Makeba, Youssou N'dur among others. Those different styles of music, as well as a strong presence in the church, shaped Dominic as a singer.
 



t 11, he composed his first single, "Mana Rurema" meaning "God Creator". Since then, he started learning to play different music instruments like piano and guitar. Later on, with his friends Tumaini and Amani created a trio of singers - God's Gift Group. The group only lasted 2 years until the boys went to different high schools as they could no longer practice together and develop as a group.



Towards the end of 2008, Dominic Nic got his first single 'Inshuti Nziza' - ' Best friend' recorded in Alphanet studio in Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo) by the well known Producer Frank Mastola. From then on, he recorded more songs that made his first Album in 2010: Nemerewe kwinjira (I am allowed to be there), Ntihinduka (God's never change), Ntacyadutanya (nothing to separate us), Ingoma ya Yesu (the reign of Jesus christ), Nditabye (Responding to your call), and Arikumwe natwe (God with us) which made the name of the Album.



A little over four years now, Dominic Nic has already released his first audio visual Album 'Ari kumwe natwe', organized several powerful concerts including one in the National University of Rwanda which recorded the biggest audience in the country. Dominic Nic has been nominated in numerous competitions and awards such as SALAX MUSIC AWARDS Edition 2010, 2011 and 2012 in Rwanda, GROOVE AWARDS Edition 2011 and 2012 in Kenya and East African Music Awards Edition 2011 in Kenya.



Dominic Nic has won the SALAX MUSIC AWARDS Edition 2010 Best Gospel Artist of the year 2010 and he has won also The EAST AFRICAN MUSIC AWARD Edition 2011 in Kenya as the Best Gospel Artist in the East African Region. He has also received the best album prize for his Arikumwe natwe Album, and the Most Popular Gospel Artist prize and many more.



Dominic Nic Ashimwe has also recently navigated in the East African region whereby he featured with big gospel artists such as Fortrand Bigirimana a burundian in the song entitled '' Nyuzuza'' and Mister T a kenyan gospel rapper as well as journalist in '' Panda Juu mpaka Juu'' a hit track which has got power play in Rwandan gospel Media



Dominic Nic Ashimwe has also recently recorded a song 'Nyuzuza' (Fills in me) a collabo with a Burundian Gospel Artist Fortrand Bigirimana. Dominic Nic Ashimwe has touched audiences countrywide and in the region, and he has successfully made the cross over to the secular market without watering down or compromising his message at all.



He is aiming at reaching more audiences worldwide, spreading the Good news of Jesus Christ to the world through his talent in music, which he believes it's a gift from God entrusted to him to serve Him, save and heal the humankind. With many popular songs which are based mainly on the love of God and changing lives of many all over the World. He is a man of faith in Jesus Christ son of God.
