Jalal Toufic ist Schriftsteller, Denker und Künstler. Er ist der Autor von Distracted (1991; 2. Aufl., 2003), (Vampires): An Uneasy Essay on the Undead in Film (1993; 2. Aufl., 2003), Over-Sensitivity (1996), Forthcoming (2000), Undying Love, or Love Dies (2002), Two or Three Things I'm Dying to Tell You (2005) und ?Âshûrâ': This Blood Spilled in My Veins (2005). Seine Video und Mixed-Media Arbeiten wurden in internationalen Museen und Ausstellungen gezeigt, so dem Artists Space in New York, dem Witte de With in Rotterdam, der Fundació Antoni Tàpies in Barcelona, dem Fridericianum in Kassel, dem National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athen. Das 16. Internationale Dokumentarfilmfestival in Amsterdam (IDFA) widmete ihm ein Sonderprogramm "Focus Jalal Toufic".
