Education: Nagenda attended King's College, Budo, before going on to graduate with a First Class honours degree in English from Makerere University in 1962. Nagenda edited Penpoint Makerere's literary magazine, while a student at the University.
Employment: Oxford University Press, 1962-64; Self-employed (including writing and broadcasting especially while in exile), 1965-85; Member of Uganda Human Rights Commission, 1986-95; Senior Presidential Adviser, Media & Public Relations, 1996-Present. Nagenda is also engaged in farming (tea, clonal coffee and pigs), and other business.
