DeMattos is the man with a versatile style, alternating between upbeat rhythms with piercing vocals and heartfelt melodies.

DeMattos, the last of 6 boys and 3 girls, began his musical foundation at the tender age of five years old, with the acoustic guitar and then the piano at six. His mother, Evanghn DeMattos dubbed his vocals a "voice of grace" and inspired him to reach higher. He followed in his father's footsteps by learning key instruments in developing his voice and musicianship.

DeMattos began composing for other artists in the late 1980s and further then attended University and the Royal School of Music. On both occasions DeMattos received certificates successfully completing the programs. He became well known among his contemporaries and was sought to play alongside his native artists across the country and internationally.

DeMattos has shared the stage and worked alongside several national and international artists in the music industry. In the early 90s, after touring as lead guitarist, DeMattos migrated to Canada and continued his musical journey by forming his first musical group, Shock 'N Colour and then later on Xtra. DeMattos continued to write and perform original songs using the inspiring influences of Stevie Wonder, Third World, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse and John Holt to inspire these creations.
