Moroccan French filmmaker.

Karim HAPETTE is a film director, screenwriter and producer (HK Films, Ruyba Films).

He is known for "L'bnat" (2022), "La Relève" (2023), HASSANIA (upcoming).

Karim Hapette was born in Morocco, in Rabat, to a Moroccan mother and a French father. He leaves his homeland at 19 for his studies, and only returns to Morocco in 2012 to shoot institutional films. He then discovers Morocco as he had never known it.
He spent three years in Hong Kong, where he collaborated with the collective "Ciné Mouvement" (filmmakers and choreographers) and the artist Kacey Wong on short films and installations. As Member of the filmmaking collective "cinémouvement", Karim learns a new way of working, where rigor, experimentation and improvisation rub shoulders. Back in Morocco, he directs'L'bnat' (2022), selected at the Tangier National Film Festival and the FIDADOC of Agadir, then'La Relève' (2023), co-directed with Marin Morel, selected at the Côté Court festival.

In 2025, his feature documentary project HASSANIA wins the Moulin d'Andé Prize, at FIDADOC (Agadir, Morocco).

Karim lives today between Paris and Rabat and regularly collaborates with contemporary artists and cultural institutions such as the Arab World Institute, the Cartier Foundation and the 1-54 fair.
